Powered by CNDE, IIT Madras.

The National Consortium for Non-Destructive Evaluation (NCNDE) is India's first industry-driven NDE research consortium, established in November 2024 under the Centre for Non-Destructive Evaluation (CNDE), IIT Madras, India.

Engineers inspecting industrial equipment

NCNDE exists to close a structural gap that has long limited the field: technology developers building without access to real field conditions, industries deploying without visibility into relevant research, and institutions generating knowledge with few sustained pathways into application. NCNDE brings all three together under one platform.

Collaborative research. Shared investment. Faster translation from science to deployment.

NCNDE is open to industrial organisations, government bodies, PSUs, NDT technology developers, and educational institutions worldwide.

Built for collaboration.Focused on deployment.

NCNDE convenes research institutions, industrial organisations, startups, and technical experts to turn high-value inspection challenges into deployable solutions.

What NCNDE Does

Where Real Problems MeetApplied Research.

NCNDE brings NDT technology developers, NDT users, and R&D and academic institutions together.

Ultrasonic inspection in the laboratory
  1. NDT Technology Developers

Manufacturers, solution providers, and startups building the inspection tools and platforms of the future.

  2. NDT Users

Industries deploying inspection technologies for operations, safety, and quality assurance.

  3. R&D and Academic Institutions

Universities, national laboratories, and R&D centres advancing knowledge and developing skilled talent.

When Failure IsNot An Option

NCNDE works on inspection challenges where integrity, availability, and safety carry real operational consequences.

Five Research ThemesDefining What Comes Next.

NDE 5.0 brings sensing, advanced materials, intelligence, imaging, and autonomy together to create inspection systems that are more continuous, precise, connected, and scalable.

  • Make assets measurable everywhere, continuously.

Technologies: Fibre optics, ultrasonic waveguides, nano-sensors
